Johanna Törnqvist selected for 2025 years Artist-in-Residence and Grant at Härke Konstcentrum.

The grant committees motivation;

”Johanna Törnqvist is awarded Härke Konstcentrum Artist-in-Residence and Grant for her thought-provoking and inspiring work with materials that have no value. The artist works in the borderland between art, crafts and fashion with issues that are highly topical today. How can we relate to all the waste that is constantly being produced?

It’s fascinating to see what Törnqvist creates with needle, thread and fusing. In her hands, consumables, disposable packaging and plastic are raw materials that undergo a metamorphosis through her work and are resurrected as exquisitely beautiful jewellery, garments or natural objects. Her way of working is a source of inspiration.”
